Aging Population Projections

The Aging in Florida Dashboard highlights the demographics and health challenges of Florida’s older population. In 2024, Florida had 23,058,197 residents, including 5,004,016 adults aged 65 and older; about 22% of the population. This number is expected to increase to 5,438,966 by 2030. Among this population, 24.8% lived alone and 11.8% were below 100% poverty level in 2024. Within this group, falls resulted in 279,601 emergency department visits and 72,175 hospitalizations. Additionally, heart disease, cancer, and stroke were the three leading causes of death for this population.
