Human papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Completion

Vaccinating against Human papillomavirus (HPV) protects against infections that can lead to certain cancers, protects against abnormal cells that can lead to cancer (precancers) and the lasting effects of testing and treatment for these precancers and protects your child long before they are ever exposed to cancer-causing infections. HPV vaccines can be given starting at age 9 years.

The vaccination series is completed when children ages 11–12 years receive two doses of HPV vaccine, given 6 to 12 months apart. Children who start the HPV vaccine series on or after their 15th birthday need three doses, given over 6 months.
