The number of school environmental safety incidents reported, including incidents considered severe enough to require the involvement of a school resource officer and incidents reported to law enforcement. The rate is the number of incidents divided by the number of enrolled students, expressed as a percent.This measure is one of the ways safety in schools is monitored. The School Environmental Safety Incident Reporting (SESIR) System collects data on incidents of crime, violence, and disruptive behaviors that occur on school grounds, on school transportation, and at off-campus, school-sponsored events, during any 24-hour period, 365 days per year.
