Deaths From Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection

An aortic aneurysm occurs when a weak spot in the wall of the aorta begins to bulge. Having an aneurysm increases the risk of an aortic dissection — a tear in the lining of the aorta.

About 60% of deaths due to aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection happen among men. Looking at death rates by the different causes of death provides information about trends and opportunities for prevention.

In 2021, the age-adjusted rate per 100,000 population of Deaths From Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection (All) in Alachua County was 2.0 compared to Florida at 2.2. Since the oldest age at death varies, an ending age of 999 is used to retrieve all records up to and including the oldest age.
