Births to mothers with less than high school education is based on data from the birth certificate where the mother's level of education at the time of the birth was 8th grade or less or 9th-12th grade, no diploma. Mothers with unknown education are excluded from the denominator in calculating the percentage.
Higher rates of low birth weight are observed among mothers with less than high school education.

Since the oldest age of the mother at birth varies, an ending age of 999 is used to retrieve all records up to and including the oldest age.
