This indicator is a count of the number of births with birthweight below 2500 grams and gestational age less than 37 weeks. Births with unknown birthweight or unknown gestational age are excluded from the denominator in calculating the percentage.This is correlated with increased risk of infant death.
In 2021, in Alachua County, the percent of preterm with low birth weight that were Preterm With Low Birth Weight (All) was 7.1 compared to Florida at 6.3. When an age range is not selected or shown, an ending age of 999 is used to retrieve all records up to and including the oldest age.
